About l'Art du Vin

l'Art du Vin is a Fife-based wine merchant, specialising in the supply of a comprehensive range of wines from around the world.

At l'Art du Vin, we are passionate about wine and constantly strive to offer an honest, personal and reliable service. We are small enough to care and big enough to cope.

We specialise in the supply of a comprehensive range of wines from all corners of the globe. l'Art du Vin was conceived and nurtured out of our passion for food and wine and our overriding aim is to supply quality wines that are made with passion, integrity and uniqueness of origin whilst being true to environmental and ethical issues. For this reason we offer a wide range of biodynamic and organic wines alongside our very own range of micro fair trade wines which we have developed in South Africa, called Cannonberg.

The Team

l'Art du Vin was founded by Philippe Larue, Richard Bouglet and Edward Bowen in 2007, a team who have over 40 years of combined experience and knowledge. They are supported by a dedicated and dynamic management duo, Valerie and Mark.

Philippe Larue, Managing Director

Born and raised in the city of Lyon, Philippe arrived in Scotland in 1996 having completed a degree in business at his hometown university. Since then, Philippe has garnered over 15 years of experience in the fine wine industry, including a spell working for Justerini and Brooks. Philippe is responsible for the strategic direction and management of the business as well as fulfilling the role of one of the company's key buyers. His expertise includes Champagne, Rhone, Languedoc, Italy and South Africa, where he, together with Edward Bowen, created our brand Cannonberg and the Cannonberg Project. Whenever he manages to find time, Philippe likes to travel to find new wines, and just as importantly, find new places to eat!


Richard Bouglet, Director

Originally from the Loire Valley, where he studied Hotel Management, Richard arrived in Scotland in 1994 and graduated with an MBA at Napier University in 2002. The son of a restaurateur, Richard has an in depth knowledge of the hospitality industry having worked for many years in that field. As well as being responsible for business development, Richard looks after the marketing strategy at l'Art du Vin. He is also a buyer, specialising in Loire, Burgundy and Regional France. Away from work, Richard likes to spend time in his vegetable garden and is as obsessed about food as he is about wine.


Edward Bowen, Director

Having turned down a place at university, Edward began working for an independent fine wine shipper in London where he was involved in all aspects of the business, he has also served time in the Territorial Army, notably a stint in Iraq in 2003. At l'Art du Vin, Edward controls the business developments of prestigious accounts in London and across the south of England. His areas of buying expertise include Bordeaux and South Africa. Edward is also a Liveryman of the world renowned Vintners' Company in London.

Valerie MacDonald, Finance and Administration Manager

Val, or 'the real boss' as we often call her manages the finances at l'Art du Vin. She is also responsible for managing our website. Val is often the first person to answer the phones in the office and as a result has a close relationship with all our customers.

Mark Douglas, Logistics Manager

Mark is responsible for managing our whole supply chain, making sure our wines leave their respective wineries and arrive at our clients' table on time and in perfect condition. On the weekends Mark loves nothing more than spending time with his three daughters. He has also found a new vocation in life - The Art of Sabrage!

The Logistics Team is headed up by Andy Douglas and assisted by Omer Awadh and Lee Kidd. They do a fantastic job of making sure the wines are delivered to our customers.
