Roussillon, despite often being hitched nominally to the Languedoc (Languedoc-Roussillon), has its own unique scenery, culture and viticultural history. Traditionally it products are rich sweet wines, namely Banyuls and Maury; however the region is now producing increasingly noteworthy unfortified wines. Roussillon's main grape varieties are Grenache, Grenache Blanc and Muscat.
