Cabernet Merlot, Fonty's Pool, 2008Cabernet Merlot, Fonty's Pool, 2008Our price: From £11.25ViewEstablished in 1989, Fonty's Pool is a contemporary Pemberton winery producing consistently exceptional wines at an affordable price. Premium sites within the original vineyard have been selected to create wines which emphasise their regional characteristics. The grapes are vinified under the direction of experienced winemaker Bernie Stanlake and Melanie Bowater who craft these signature wines to make Fonty's Pool one of Western Australia's most distinctive wineries. The name 'Fonty's Pool' comes from an early settler to the region. In 1907 Archie Fontanini began farming on the property where the 110 hectares of vines are now laid. He built an irrigation dam which was known as Fonty's Pool, as it became a popular place for locals and tourists to swim. Fonty's Pool is located just outside the Pemberton township, set against an idyllic landscape of lush karri forests. Cabernet Sauvignon Domaine Bassac 'Lo Bartas' Organic 2009Cabernet Sauvignon Domaine Bassac 'Lo Bartas' Organic 2009Our price: From £8.32ViewPuissalicon is a small village in the south of France with the typical architecture, in circular fashion, of medieval towns in this region. It is equidistant from Béziers, Pézenas and Bédarieux. The Domaine Bassac vineyard covers around 80 hectares. A growing concern for creating genuine wines that respect the land, nature, and the subtle balance which allows for the expression of harmony between soil and vine, caused the family to turn to organic farming in 1990. The cellar, located in the village of Puissalicon itself, is an old building which has been renovated and enlarged over the generations. At the time when Languedoc was known for its 'eau de vie', it was even home to a family distillery which no longer exists. Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva, Kaiken, 2008 (R)Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva, Kaiken, 2008 (R)Our price: From £8.77View"It was precisely the wines of Argentina that attracted Montes into that country. For that same reason we imposed upon ourselves, right from the start, in 2001, the task of acquiring for KAIKEN the best grapes produced in the area. We went through all the best grape producing estates, finally deciding for the exceptional quality of that in the First Zone (Maipú, Cruz de Piedra, Ugarteche, Agrelo) as well as from Valle de Uco. Along with a hard selection of the best producers, we meticulously supervise each step and work in the vineyard from start to finish of each growing season, observing well each little detail. This,to attain the full potential from the best grapes".

Cheval des Andes, 2006Cheval des Andes, 2006Our price: From £57.15ViewThis joint venture between Cheval Blanc and Terrazas de los Andes originated as Director Pierre Lurton sought out a special international terroir in which to apply the storied blending heritage of the French château. Lurton was intrigued by the notion of unearthing a connection with the Saint Émilion past: Malbec, decimated by phylloxera in the 1860s and wiped out as one of the most important varieties in Saint Émilion and Pomerol, has since been reincarnated in ungrafted form in Argentina and now produces some of the world's best. This wine, made using Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and a small percentage of Petit Verdot, spends 18 months in French oak.
