Carmel Ridge, Red, 2009
Carmel Winery was founded in 1882 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild, owner of Château Lâfite. The main winery is situated at Zichron Ya'acov, on the slopes of Mt.Carmel overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Carmel remains the largest winery in Israel, with vineyards all over the country, but is particularly well represented in the cooler climate, higher altitude Upper Galilee. The winemaker is Lior Lacser, who studied in Beaune and worked in Burgundy and Bordeaux before joining Carmel. Carmel wines are Kosher, and suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
A blend of Carignan and Shiraz. Medium bodied with aromas of cherries and plums and a refreshing balanced acidity.
