Dry Riesling, Little Beauty, 2009

Little Beauty is a bespoke and independent range of Limited Edition wines from the elemental and unique Waihopai Valley in Marlborough, New Zealand. Distinct flavours are derived from the stony, alluvial river terraces on which the vines are planted. State of the art climatic monitoring equipment has been installed throughout the vineyard proving the site benefits from longer autumns, increased growing degree days and higher diurnal temperatures than other parts of the Marlborough region. 2008 is the first vintage and despite limited volumes, the Little Beauty portfolio unusually includes hand crafted Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Dry Riesling, and of course, Sauvignon Blanc - all expressive examples of what the site offers. Environmental safe-keeping is a priority at Little Beauty - vineyards are Sustainably Accredited and natural wetland features have been retained and enhanced - continually enjoyed by many of New Zealand's native bird species.
