Le Chêne Bleu Abelard 2006
Named in homage of a quite stunning ancient blue oak tree that overlooks the vineyards, La Chene Bleu is owned and run by husband and wife pairing Nicole and Xavier Rolet. From their base in Dentelles de Montmirail, they produce wines in an organic, sustainable and biodynamic manner, in accordance with their philosophy, that the soil and terroirs command utmost respect. All of their wines are bespoke and handmade. The Rolet’s believe that this method, despite being extremely time-consuming and expensive, ensure that produce reaches its optimum quality and can be enjoyed to their fullest. Their motto, “not yours, not mine, but ours” emphasises the importance of sharing in their philosophy, and the fact that they strive to ensure that each of their wines are as good as they possibly can be so they can take pleasure in sharing it with others.
Syrah dominates the blend, and in contrast to the Heloïse this wine is beautifully defined and masculine in character. Blackberry, liquorice, garrigue and spice abound.
