Château La Voulte-Gasparets Cuvée Reservée, 2009
CHÂTEAU LA VOULTE-GASPARETS – Patrick Reverdy
Some people regard La Voulte Gasparets as the best Corbières to be found. One reason for this is the unique micro terroir of Boutenac which is situated on the bed of an ancient river. The alluvial deposits are mainly made up of quartz pebbles. These pebbles reflect and intensify the heat of the soil during the day and slowly release this heat during the night; a particularity of great benefit to the vine plants.
The other key reason for the reputation of this estate is the craftsmanship and dedication of Patrick Reverdy.
The wines are Carignan dominated with some Grenache, Mouvedre and a little bit of Syrah from very low yields old vines. Carbonic maceration is usually used for the ferment, and ageing takes place in a mixture of old and new Merrain oak. They are very elegant but modern Corbières.
