Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge Vieilles Vignes, Vincent et Sophie Morey, Burgundy, France 2017
Regular price £32.60
Vincent et Sophie Morey
When Vincent and Sophie married, they combined their family estates to create a domaine totalling 20 hectares. Vincent is particularly keen on lees-stirring, though having noted that it takes about two weeks for the suspended lees to fall clear, he now does his bâtonnage once a fortnight instead of every week, as his father used to do. Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Embrazées is the domaine’s flagship premier cru, since Vincent and Sophie’s marriage brought the two largest holdings in the area together. It is a full, rich and ageworthy example with a wonderfully intense mineral core.
Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge Vieilles Vignes 2017
Pure red fruit jumps out of the glass – these old vines always provide a lovely clear expression of Pinot Noir. In the mouth, it is fairly full, with a firm structure and some spicy blackberry flavours.
