Domaine de la Pépière
Domaine de la Pépière is located in the village of Maisdon-sur-Sèvre, about 20 kms south-east of Nantes. Its history as a winery dates from 1984 when Marc Ollivier created the domain. La Pépière comes from the old French word “pépie” which means thirst, due to the very dry and rocky soils of the estate.
Since its creation, Domaine de la Pépière has kept on growing over the years through the purchase of well-targeted plots, often old and situated on outstanding terroirs. Rémi Branger's arrival in 2017 helped the conversion of the domaine to organic farming and Gwénaëlle Croix’s in 2013 to biodynamics.
Grapes are harvested manually, and then are carried to the wine cellar with much care. The pneumatic press is filled by gravity, and grapes are not crushed. A very slight racking enables the yeasts which are naturally present, to induce fermentation. This cuvée is left on its lees until spring, without any racking.
Muscadet-Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie 2021
Fresh, bright aromatic minerally nose. The palate is taut, herby and has high acidity – very fresh and stylish.
