Historic setting – family business
A family viticultural business, Tommasi Viticolori, was founded in 1902 and is located in the village of Pedemonte, a stones throw away from the historic city of Verona, immortalised as the backdrop for William Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’.
The family take care of all running matters of the estate, from winemaking to administration and logistics. Currently, 6 family members run the organisation, the 4th generation of Tommasi’s to have inherited the land. Giancarlo is the current head winemaker, producing fantastic wines with the help of the rest of his team.
He presides over a 135 hectare area of vines on the plains of Lake Garda, encompassing a terroir that is simply perfect for grape growing, with an ideally temperate climate. The resultant wines are of supreme quality, namely their unique Valpolicella Classico reds, showcasing the unique terroirs of the Veneto region.
Arele is the name of the traditional crate used for Amarone grapes to dry over the winter, made in a similar fashion as Ripasso, this Valpolicella is medium to full bodied having extracted some of the raisined cherry characters.
