Terroir-driven – producing with both Languedoc varieties and newcomers

Pierre Cros

Pierre Cros cultivates his 20 hectares of vines in the heart of the Minervois region. It is an area that has a wine history dating back thousands of year but Pierre is very much a forward thinker, planting unusual varieties such as Nebbiolo (Italy), Touriga Nacional (Portugal) and Pinot Noir (Burgundy) in an effort to produce the most exciting wines he possibly can.

His 'Les Costes' Blanc is an exotic blend of 44% Grenache Blanc, 34% Vermentino, 8% Picpoul Blanc, 8% Grenache Gris and 6% Muscat a Petit Grains. Scents of green apples and apricots lead to a dry, fresh yet weighty palate with tart green-fruit flavours. The acidity is excellent and the finish lengthy. And excellent aperitif or an ideal match to seafood.
