LIVING WINES COLLECTIVE – Sam Baron & Shaunt Oungoulian – Organic
The Populis project was kickstarted by four friends who met at winemaking school, namely Martha Stoumen, Diego Roig, Sam Baron, and Shaunt Oungoulian. They shared a desire to produce light-hearted, naturally made, extremely drinkable wines from exciting, organic vineyard sites throughout California.
The Populis red is produced using Carignane vines that were planted in 1948! Similarly to the white blend, no yeast or sulphur is added and the fermentation process occurs spontaneously. After spending around 7 months in neutral French oak barrels, the finished wine is packed with delicious red fruit and animal aromas – a simply delicious expression of Californian Carignane.
