Hand-harvesting – adventurous grape varieties – 28 hectares – gravity bottling
From upstate New York come the wines from Channing Daughters estate. The team, headed by winemaker Christopher Tracy, cultivate a wide range of grape varieties which originate from all corners of the world. White varieties include the well-known Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio, to the more bizarre Tocai Friulano, Muscat Ottonel and Malvasia. Reds are a similar story, with Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grown alongside Blaufränkisch, Dornfelder and Lagrein.
Like the overwhelming number of producers that we work with, Christopher and his team aim to produce wines that have a sense of provenance. In order to do so, all grapes are hand-picked, stomped by foot and punched down by hand, while all bottling is conducted by gravity rather than mechanisation.
Channing Daughters are unquestionably artisan craftsmen, producing artisan wines.
