Gamay-zing

Bienvenue to the November edition of the l’Art du Vin wine club!

Last week marked one of the most anticipated dates in the wine calendar – Beaujolais Nouveau Day – a celebration of Gamay in all its youthful, vibrant glory. While Nouveau is fun and fleeting, this month we’re taking a deeper dive into Gamay’s true potential, alongside its elegant counterpart, Chardonnay.

Gamay is a grape that thrives on freshness and charm, but in the hands of skilled artisans, it can also deliver complexity and finesse. To showcase this versatility, we’ve selected two outstanding examples:

Domaine Lucien Lardy Beaujolais Villages, a classic expression of Gamay’s juicy red fruit and silky texture.

Domaine de la Rochette Gamay Pinot Noir de Touraine, a Loire blend that brings a delicate twist to Gamay’s personality.

Balancing these reds, we turn to Burgundy and the Languedoc for two distinctive Chardonnays:

Domaine Agnès Paquet Hautes Côtes de Beaune Blanc, a wine that captures the purity and minerality of Burgundy’s limestone soils.

Domaine Canet Chardonnay, offering a richer, sun-kissed style from the south.

Together, these wines invite you to explore the contrast between lightness and depth, fruit and structure, tradition and innovation. So pour a glass, settle in, and let Gamay and Chardonnay take centre stage this month.

Cheers!
