Domaine les Capréoles
“The word “Capréoles” comes from the Old French and means vine tendrils. We chose this name for all it symbolises: the reference to History and Tradition, the natural support allowing vertical growth of the vine but also the idea of relationship we want to establish with those who appreciate our work.”
– Cédric and Catherine Lecareux
Cédric and Catherine Lecareux fell in love with this 250 year old estate when they first stumbled upon it in the village of Régnié-Durette. They produced their first vintage from their 3.5 hectares of Gamay vines in 2014 and since then, have garnered a reputation for some of the most exciting and progressive wines to be coming out of Beaujolais.
Everything they do, both among the vines and in the winery, is geared towards the production of wines that are in line with their 4 key principles; respect, excellence, conviviality and passion.
In order to achieve these goals, they work following a minimum-intervention approach and are currently in the process of Demeter biodynamic certification. All of their wines are vegan-friendly and sulphites are only used at the bottling stage of the winemaking process.
Régnié ‘Chamodère’ 2020
‘Chamodère’ is a portmanteau word created from ‘chameau’ (camel) and ‘dromadaire’ (dromedary) to recognise the fact that this Gamay is a special animal! The concept stems from the fact that this is a marriage of two techniques – traditional carbonic maceration alongside de-stemmed grapes, resulting in a bright, fruity Régnié with silky smooth tannic structure.
