We are delighted to introduce you to the wines of Montalto, a family-run winery in Santa Ninfa, western Sicily.
The family presides over an areas of vines situated between 250-350 metres above sea level, ensuring they are able to produce wines displaying bright freshness despite the warm, dry Mediterranean climate.
All of their work is certified organic, their vineyard is free from pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilisers and they conduct their harvesting by hand. They focus their efforts on the production of three monovarietal wines – namely Catarratto, Pinot Grigio and Nero d’Avola.
The result is a range of wines that are bursting with fruit and sunshine, yet underpinned by thirst-quenching acidity. All three of the wines also possess great texture, rendering them extremely flexible when it comes to food and wine pairing.
Their Catarratto is fruity and harmonious, with hints of apples and nuts on the nose. It possesses a crisp yet rounded palate with notes of orange, citrus peel and herbs.
