Château Grand Boise
This estate has long been on our radar. 45 hectares of vines are planted in terraces, dotted across the hillside directly opposite the stunning Montagne Sainte-Victoire. Vines have been grown in this area since the Roman era and the Grand Boise estate is certainly a throwback to a more traditional way of farming, with the vines sitting alongside olive groves and woodland in a truly balanced eco-system.
Family-owned, the Grand Boise estate can be traced back to 1610, although came to being in its current form when the land of three estates was combined in 1879. That rich history, combined with an enviable location, ensures this is one of the most interesting estates we have discovered in the Provence region.
The vineyards are located at relatively high altitude, with vines found between 300m to 640m above sea level. The combination of this altitude with good exposure to the sun gives beautifully fresh wines with excellent balance, all produced without the use of fertilisers or pesticides.
Château Grand Boise Blanc 2019
This is a stunning example of the quality that can be found in whites from the South of France. Produced using 100% Vermentino, grapes are hand-harvested before a 5 month ageing period in a combination of concrete tanks and oak barrels.
The nose is dominated by citrus notes, white flowers & fennel, backed up by stone fruits. The long, silky palate, showcasing well-balanced freshness and acidity ensures that this is a wine made for drinking with food – think simply cooked, fresh fish dishes.
