Chateau Canet

Chateau Canet is a family run wine and olive domaine in the appellation of Minervois. Winemaker and owner Floris Lemstra tends to his 45 hectares estate following the principles of Terra Vitis, promoting sustainability throughout his vineyard. In order to further boost the ecosystem across his land, Floris maintains a 3 hectare olive grow alongside a vast wild pine forest.

His Minervois Blanc offers a delightful snapshot of the south west of France. Produced from Roussanne and Bourboulenc, a local indigenous grape variety, it is matured in stainless steel for 8 months with a brief, 3 week ‘passage’ in oak. This does not give any oak flavour, but enables Floris to round off the wine, ensuring a soft mouthfeel. The result is a wine that possesses hints of tropical and citrus fruits on the nose and a round, balanced palate.

A nice white Minervois - very good value for money

Minervois is always better known for red wines but with a few white wines. I really enjoyed this one. I knew of the Roussane grape but never heard of Bourboulenc (and I am from really close to Minervois). The mix gives a nice mineral but yet floral quality. I'll buy it again.
