Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières, Xavier Monnot, Burgundy, France 2020
Regular price £140.65
The Monnier family, Xavier Monnot’s maternal ancestors, can trace their presence in Meursault back to 1723, and since then, six generations have been active in viticulture. In the intervening three hundred years, the family accumulated seventeen hectares of vineyards, stretching from Beaune to Maranges, including a number of enviable plots in the premier crus of Meursault Charmes, Puligny Folatières and Volnay Clos des Chênes. Xavier took the reins in 1994, but it was only in 2005 after a period of fine-tuning that he started producing wines under his own name. His style is certainly an engaging one, highlighting purity of fruit and vineyard character, while demonstrating a rare ability to combine elegance and opulence.
Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières 2020
Unmistakably Puligny in its combination of elegance and richness. An elegant nose of peaches, citrus and acacia flowers is followed by a palate with a real concentration of both fruit and savoury, mineral flavours, lifted by a refreshing acidity.
