From the team at Fattoria di Vaira, this is a truly excellent example of entry-level skin contact wine from Italy’s Adriatic eastern coast.
A short fermentation on the skins ensures that this blend of Falanghina and Fiano develops a golden colour and is packed with stone fruit aromas. The wine is unfiltered so expect it to be a little hazy in the glass. The palate displays lots of crunchy fruit notes as well as distinct tannins and an underlying mineral character.
The team at Fattoria di Vaira are champions of biodiversity and polyculture. The entire estate is farmed following strict biodynamic principles and alongside vines, they also cultivate vegetables, grains and cereals, and produce fresh cheeses, olive oil and honey.
We believe this acts as an excellent introduction to the world of skin-contact wines, with the bonus that it comes from a producer who shares our ethos regarding sustainable practices.
